I remember the night Kitty Hawk bailed, noticing the company was putting its own equipment on the aircraft and flying out. In the morning was an empty hanger and unpaid rent for the entire time Kitty Hawk was there. Long story short, the taxpayers of Fort Wayne each paid about $10,000 each in income and property tax to fund Helmke's boondoggle. FYI, the hanger was demolished about 2000 as no one would rent it. However, Mayor Tom Henry built an "international trade zone" hanger at the south end of the field in the early 2000s. Does anybody use it? Nope. Another boondoggle that socializes cost and privatizes wealth. Always been this way and always will be this way.Valley Forge Patriothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07138814230153429356noreply@blogger.com
