Yesterday the only mail I received was a glossy advertisement from my local state-funded university. To be clear this is something in which I have no interest and if I did I could easily reach them for information.
This means, my tax dollars are being used to generate expensive junk mail I do not want. Note, I will now have to pay to have hauled away. The USPS is not adding to my general quality of life.Bruce Wildshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10181323607060607040noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2992740250270600844.post-34213116421651192852020-08-19T16:04:42.212-07:002020-08-19T16:04:42.212-07:00Whether Congress has been raiding the USPS is irre...Whether Congress has been raiding the USPS is irrelevant. What is relevant is that the USPS is a dying dinosaur. It now has a declining business model as more and more pay their bills online, bank online, receive their credit card and banking statements online. Email has replaced regular mail. It is an antiquated and outdated business model in the 21st century.Rod Briggshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01892085143658761123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2992740250270600844.post-90224856308815487652020-08-19T09:35:20.832-07:002020-08-19T09:35:20.832-07:00Dave2020, Thanks for the comment. I favor a twice a week delivery schedule for regular mail, this is mail that is not paying a heavy premium.

It would constitute A routes being delivered on Monday and Thursday and B routes delivered on Tuesday and Friday. This would result in downsizing the USPS but keep it intact, it would also drastically reduce wasted labor and fuel.Bruce Wildshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10181323607060607040noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2992740250270600844.post-78660422753058051922020-08-19T08:59:42.717-07:002020-08-19T08:59:42.717-07:00There's no question that the Post Office needs...There's no question that the Post Office needs reform. The special deal Amazon gets should be eliminated, and they should be more efficient. They should also raise their postage rates a bit as they have risen about 2.5% over the past 30 years, and real inflation with all the borrowing and money printing, IMO, is about 3-4% a year. At least the USPS performs a useful service. I know of many govt. agencies, including the military, that waste so much money you'd be appalled. I have a relative who works for ICE. He told me that the agents only care about raking in as much money as they can and so get a lot of overtime. There are ICE agents making $100K a year, and get this - they can retire with a pension and health care benefits for the rest of their lives after only 20 years. This is just one example of the massive fraud being perpetrated on the average citizen and taxpayer. I'm happy to pay a little more so the Post Office can stay in business, although they do need some reforms to cut operating costs.Dave2020https://www.blogger.com/profile/15839510248960245602noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2992740250270600844.post-70258351808208079012020-08-18T18:07:43.735-07:002020-08-18T18:07:43.735-07:00In truth, even "real journalists" are un...In truth, even "real journalists" are under no obligation to present a balanced representation of both sides of an issue.
