This is a problem when your country hosts a "consumer economy." If no one's buying, no one's making money. We really have no manufacturing base anymore.
As for my shopping habits, I shifted largely to Amazon for the simple reason that places like Wal-Mart treat the customer like a criminal and the criminal like a customer. We're left waiting for someone to unlock what we need, while the criminals walk out of the store, arms full, and no one stopping them. With Amazon I point, click, pay, and go back to whatever I was doing. It's going to be VERY hard to buck that business model... Of course, the same was said about Sears...
